Most websites built for trade businesses are built to look nice. That is the wrong starting point. A tradie website has one job, and it is a narrow one: when someone in your area searches for what you do, your business turns up, and they can reach you in under ten seconds without thinking about it.
That means a few things in practice.
Your phone number has to be tappable and visible without scrolling. More than half the people who land on a trade website are standing in a hallway looking at a problem, on a phone, and they are not going to hunt for a contact page.
The site has to load fast on mobile data, not just on office wi-fi. A site that takes six seconds to appear has already lost most of the people who clicked it.
It has to say where you work. Not “servicing Melbourne and surrounds” — the actual suburbs. This is the single most common thing missing from trade websites, and it is the main reason a site never turns up in local search results.
And it has to answer the questions people ask before they ring anyone: what you charge for a call-out, whether you are licensed and insured, how quickly you can get there, and whether you have done this exact job before.
None of that requires a big or expensive site. It requires the right five pages, built properly, with your suburbs and services written into them.

Not listed at all? Get in touch — we probably still build for you.
Ask three agencies to quote a website for a trade business and you will get three numbers that have almost nothing to do with each other. Two thousand. Six thousand. Fifteen thousand. Same five pages.
The gap is rarely about quality. It is about what is bundled in, what is charged separately afterwards, and how much of the price is the agency’s overheads rather than your website.
The part that catches people out is what happens after the build. A one-off build fee buys you a site on day one and nothing after that. Hosting is separate. Updates are billed hourly. Six months later you want to add a service or change your phone number and it is a $150 minimum charge. Plenty of trade businesses end up with a site they cannot afford to keep current, which is worse than not having one.
We do it the other way around. There is no build fee. We build the site, you look at it, and you only start paying once you have approved it and it is live. From there it is $199 per month for hosting, security, backups and unlimited content updates, with no lock-in contract and 30 days notice to cancel. If you later want to own the code outright, you can buy it for a flat $1,800, any time — there is no minimum period you have to wait out.
We have written up the full breakdown of what different website quotes actually include: what a website costs for a tradie.
Almost every tradie we speak to has already had a go at this. There is a half-built Wix site sitting in a browser tab, or a Squarespace trial that ran out in 2023, or a mate’s nephew who was going to sort it out and then got a full-time job.
This is not a discipline problem. The builders are genuinely easy to start and genuinely hard to finish.
Getting a template up and looking reasonable takes an evening. What takes the next three months is the part nobody warns you about: writing the copy for every page, sorting out what your services are actually called, chasing photos of your own work, working out why it looks wrong on a phone, and then the search engine setup, which is where most of them stop for good. A site that exists but does not turn up in search results is doing very little for you.
The other cost is the one that does not show up on an invoice. An evening spent fighting a page builder is an evening you did not spend quoting. For most trade businesses the hourly maths on that is not close.
So we do the whole thing. You answer some questions about your business, we write the copy, build the site, and send it to you finished. If you want to see the comparison laid out properly, we have written it up here: building it yourself versus using a web designer.
Free to build, $199/month once it's live, no lock-in.
